The key properties team have a diverse background ranging in age from 17 to 50ish , who have lived in Australia, South Africa, France, USA , Spain and of course various parts of the UK including Derby born and bred!… there are certainly a few accents to spot!
We Manage, as well as own, a wide variety of student properties across Derby, from Studios to 13 beds and everything in between and have been doing so for well over a decade.
The following are the key points we believe are interesting and have relevance to living in Derby as a University City.
1Size and Locality
Derby is a medium sized City, placed around 20th in the UK, with a population of just over 263,000. Derby provides excellent transport access to the rest of the UK, with London 90 mins by train, Nottingham 15 miles apart and the wonders of the Peak District a short drive or journey away.
2Uni and Living
The University has a several campus locations , including the new Business centre, they are all handlity located within short walking distances to each other and the city centre. For those wanting to use bikes and buses , all are on hand.
Complementing this are the accommodation options, which can be within minutes of a particular campus or centrally located to them all providing great choices and we are here to help for all needs and budgets -just make contact to see how we can assist.
4Social Scene
International Food options are within walking distance of student accommodation and include Indian , from the Spice Lounge, Italian from Nico’s , Caribbean style from Turtle bay, Afrikan food from Mollojof and French cuisine served up by Bistrot Pierre to name but a few. Naturally , these are complimented by the ever present large chains such as Wagamama, Five Guys, Nandos and fast food outlets.
Afternoon and nights outs can be spent in bars ranging from Weatherspoons through to the Grade II listed Ye Olde Dolphin Inn and as diverse as the 13th Century built Friary through to the Slug and Lettuce.
Hitting the early hours? then Popworld and MooMoos are a good option.
5Sports and Activities
The city has various dedicated green spaces awarded Green flag status, such as Markeaton and Darley Parks. Home to Derby County Football Club, A Cycling velodrome , Derbion Shopping Centre, 2 Multiplex cinemas, Mini Golf, Bowling alleys, Derby Theatres, Cricket and Rugby clubs.
6Costs of Living and Safety.
The National Student Money Survey identified Derby and the East Midlands as one of the cheapest places to live as a Student in the UK.
